CHAPTER-1: Marriage Seasons

INDIA AMRITSAR [PUNJAB]

8pm

UNKNOWN POV:

“No, we can’t get back to the studio for your Shipper. Stick that in your stupid brain.” I have been telling the same sentence more than 10 times while we are going back home and I’m driving the car.

(Actually, the author is a big fan of cars, so don’t mind guys.)

In reality, I’m not tired at all but scared of my rude as well as sweet brother. And who the hell wants to get scolded after a whole hectic day? I mean, I’m not a worker with a great job, but who cares? Mine is also a hardworking job.

“Yrrrr... samjha kar, meri cute si Shipper all alone nahi reh payegi tere uss dance studio mein.” Saying that again, she made me realize that the only thing that matters to her is her so-called Shipper. Yeahhh, cute Shipper, whatever.

“Ohhh wait, let me introduce myself to give you all a better imagination, lol.”

[Heyyy,

Myself Meera Tyagi. I’m a girl, of course you all know that already, right? Okkk fine, let’s get back to the intro.

So, it’s been 24 years since I got my brother... I mean, he got me. Yeahh, I’m the younger child of my sweet family. I graduated last year from the Humanities stream and right now I’m running my own dance studio as well as being a good singer.

Okkk fine, I know I’m not perfect because I wanted to do medicine, but bad luck being my bestie always sticks with me. That’s why my father got into an affair and left all of us alone and bankrupt when I was just 6.

And the fun fact is, I don’t really remember him that much.

Now back to the story.]

“Vani, mere konse janam ka badla lena chahti hai tu? Bata de aaj. Janti hai na, bhai ko pata chala ki ab tak hum ghar nahi pahuche, to pakka iss baar road par hi sona padega.”

And that’s the last thing I uttered as we arrived in front of her house.

“Achha listen, tell Aunty to tell me whether the cookies taste better than last time or not.”

The thing is, last Sunday I made a new recipe and, being my best taster, she always tells me which version of my cookies is the best.

“You already know what she will say. ‘Ohh my dear, you are awesome. Why don’t you open your own bakery and give me some discount?’”

Hearing her choice of words, we both laughed like there was no tomorrow.

After dropping her off, I came back to my own house and walked straight to my room's attached washroom for a cold shower after dancing the whole day.

Author POV:

Every single day is like that, but today something is going on between Meera’s mother and brother, and both of them are discussing something in the hall. Meanwhile, Meera came back to the dining table.

“So, what’s up with both of you?”

Asking her daily-wise question, she focused on her dinner until her brother cleared his throat and said,

“Someone is coming after a few minutes.”

Without thinking twice, she again asked,

“Really? But who?”

Don’t know why, but after a few minutes she realized what was going on without her knowing, and she once again asked,

“Don’t tell me this is happening again?”

“Bachha, just once. After that we wouldn’t say a single word.”

That’s the last thing she heard before leaving for her room to change after accepting the meeting.

After a few minutes, a car horn sounded outside. Hearing the sound, all of them ran to the main entrance and welcomed the family.

9 PM

“Bhai, I want some alone time with him.”

Asking that, she made an innocent face and tried to convince her brother to accept her wish.

“Yes, of course, Meera, you can.”

Telling her that, he glared at her for something that could ruin the moment as well as the proposal.

Vani took the privilege of being a bitch, lol, and made her way to the room with the guy. Closing the door from inside, she asked in a stern voice,

“Why do you want to marry me?”

“Huhhh... I... I am a gentleman and my mum said a gentleman has to marry a beautiful lady. That’s why, I think!”

Just after he finished his sentence, he got a hard slap on his so-called beardless cheek. With that, he lost his balance and fell onto the ground.

“Listen very carefully, Mr. Gentleman. First, I’m not going to marry you by any chance. And second, what do you think of yourself, huhhh? Calling yourself a gentleman? Seriously? After abusing a helpless girl in the middle of the street? You know what the fun fact is? I was the one who witnessed everything and made a clear-cut video of that harassment session. Do you want to see it once?”

Shouting the whole matter in one breath, she walked out of the room and stood in front of her brother. With that, she started crying and said,

“Bhai, don’t you love me anymore?”

Without understanding her words, he asked after hugging her tightly,

“What happened, bachha?”

And she got the chance to tell him the whole story that happened that night and how she managed to help the girl and drop her home in her car.

“What the hell... Don’t you all have any shame?... LEAVE... NOW!”

With that, they left while lowering their heads and trying to hide their shameful faces.

Meera POV:

10 PM

After all the drama that happened a few minutes before, now I’m lying down on my soft bed and trying to sleep, but my so-called stupid brain is not helping anymore.

[Let’s call my darling. After all, she also has to know the drama.]

Thinking loudly in my mind, I’m now calling my bestie and waiting for her to receive it. After 5 tries, she picked it up.

Vani: WHATTTTT...

Meera: Calm down, babygirl. I have spice.

Vani: What happened?

Meera: Do you remember last week we found a girl on the street?

Vani: Yes, of course I remember, dude. Her face was so tense at that moment.

Meera: The same guy came for marriage and the funny thing is he called himself a GENTLEMAN.

Vani: What? Wait a minute. What the hell! Don’t tell me you are going to marry him?

Meera: Are you mad? Why would I? Besides, he already got a hard slap from me, darling, and that was satisfying.

Vani: That’s my girl. You did a great job, dude. Now I got the spice and I’m going to sleep. After all, who knows what’s coming tomorrow?

Meera: Yeahhh right. Goodnight, babygirl.

Vani: Goodnight, darling.

Meera: Waittt...

Vani: Now what?

Meera: We have to go shopping, remember?

Vani: Ohhh, forgot about that. Tell me about the dress Bhai got from your soon-to-be bhabhi.

Meera: You already know he is a shy man. He always blushes like a baby, but bhabhi is too cool, dude. She always makes him blush with her words. I think she loves to flirt with him, don’t you think?

Vani: Same, baby. I saw her flirting with him all the time, dude.

Meera: Now bye, love you.

Next Day

6 AM

Deep POV:

Last night was so funny after hearing the story from my little sister, which contained the wonderful thing she did—a hard slap. I can’t imagine that guy’s face after getting that slap.

Meanwhile, I’m focusing on my soon-to-be wife, who is talking to me on a video call. Yeahh, not talking but flirting, and I love to blush at her words. Her smile and her nature are amazing.

It’s been a whole year since we got engaged, and we are going to marry this week only. The frustrating thing is that now I can’t live without her presence in my life after realizing last month that I fell in love with her, while she was already in love with me after our first meeting.

The only thing I didn’t understand is that she fell in love by LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT.

By the way, now I’m going to go out for tea with my mother.

With that, I hung up the call and walked out of the room.

“Good morning, Maa.”

Receiving a side hug from her, I stopped after listening to her statement.

“Good morning, mera bachha. Ab jaakar meri rani sahiba ko bhi utha do.”

Nodding my head, I knocked on her door, but as always, it was already open.

When will she behave like a girl?

Without thinking again, I snatched her blanket and shouted in a loud voice, making her shiver.

“Snakeeeeeee....”

That’s it.

Now there was no need to say anything more.

Meanwhile, she opened her eyes and hugged me like a magnet while blabbering,

“Such a jerk you are.”

“Morning, meri jaan.”

Kissing her hair, I wished her good morning and separated myself from her.

With that, I left her room and came back to the dining area and started taking a sip of my tea.

“Maa, when will you call everyone to attend all the pre-marriage rituals?”

Listening to me, she nodded her head.

“I already did, beta. And you know what is more surprising?”

Not sure what she meant, I lifted my eyebrows because of the suspense she was creating.

“BETA JI, puchho to sahi kya surprise hai.”

She looked at me with sparkling eyes, wanting to reveal the surprise.

Of course, she was not going to become a typical mother-in-law with this level of excitement.

[One thing to note about my mother is that she is always excited for even the smallest things, just like she is now. Don’t know when she will become a mature lady.]

“OHOOO Maa, batao na kya surprise hai.”

She nodded her head while standing up from the chair, looking all excited and making me worry about her behavior.

“Yaad hai, engagement mein teri chachi ji ki badi behen bhi aayi thi, par unka beta nahi aa paya tha kyunki usse leave nahi mili thi. Lekin ab woh aa rahe hain sabke saath, aur woh bhi aaj hi shaam ko. Hai na surprise?”

Not knowing what to say exactly because I was so busy with my soon-to-be better half that I didn’t even pay attention to any other person.

So crazy, right?

“Yeahh Maa, right. I remember all of them. I think we have to start the preparations already.”

“Correct. To abhi se shuru kar dete hain. Shaam hone mein zyada time nahi bacha hai, beta ji.”

Again, she made me smile like always.

“Haan ji Maa, aap chalo. Main Meera ko card dekar aata hoon. Usko bhi to shopping par jana hai.”

Nodding her head, she again started her meal.
